Lincolnshire Poachers

September 7-8th 2002

We came, we saw and we conquered Lincolnshire, at least. The meetings keep getting better and better.

First up was Cadwell Park on the Friday. Six intrepid Quacks plus a few friends took to the circuit. Steve and Yoav in the steady group, Sarah, Bonny and Homer in the intermediate group and Purple Haze in the fast group, along with Steve and Sarah's friend Chris and his mate Dave. The track day was very well organised by Track Sense

The day didn't start well - there was a torrential downpour during the briefing. This seemed like a recipe for carnage, and anyway why pay to ride in the wet when you can do it almost any day of the week for free? Fortunately the track dried progressively before lunch, and we had a great time, increasing speed and confidence. More rain after lunch meant a lot of folks went home, but the Quacks stayed to the end.

There are a few pictures available - votes for the best wheelie on a postcard please...

After a great dinner and rather too much wine on Friday night at the Admiral Rodney in Horncastle, where the group were staying, John B had planned the most amazing route. I thought Lincolnshire would be flat and boring. No way! The roads were stunning - a great mix of fast sweepers, tight technical bends and places you could just have a good blast. We wound our way gently down to the Pearoom for coffee. Then followed the Bardney Bends towards Lincoln for lunch. Here we parked outside the Cathedral on the lawn (in the middle of a wedding party) and went into town for lunch. After lunch was a blast to Skegness for ice cream and saucy postcards on the sea front, followed by Revesy Bends on the way home. The jewel in the crown kept until last in my opinion - what a wonderful day! And no rain either!!

No doubt more photos and probably some video too will find their way on to the web in due course, but here are a few of mine for starters...
